OYO STATE SCHOOLS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP JANUARY 2022.
Oyo State Schools Chess Championship was a great success with about 200 students and over 20 schools in attendance.
Awesome Chess Academy is so excited as we have 7 medals in all out of 36 available medals.
Oluwashindara Ayansina of Dainty Oaks finished 3rd in Under 7 Girls Category.
Ayanfe Olorunnisola of Dainty Oaks finished 3rd in Under 7 Boys Category.
Afunto Awesome finished 1st in Under 7 Boys Category.
Olorunnisola IreOluwa of Top Rank finished 3rd in Under 9 Girls Category.
Shittu Firdaus of Amaanah Integrated Curriculum and Gifted Education finished 2nd in Under 9 Girls Category.
Amatukareem Fasasi of Amaanah Integrated Curriculum and Gifted Education also finished 3rd in Under 11 Girls Category.
Bello Bashirat of Oladipo Alayande School Of Science clinged the 1st position in Under 13 girls.

It is our pleasure to host these two chess giants at Awesome Chess Academy tomorrow, 12th February 2022. These are phenomenal as far as the 64 Squared game is concerned in Nigeria, Africa and the World!
IM Aikhoje Odion popularly known as Odirov is a Grand Master slayer! The feat he achieved at the 33rd Chess Olympiad in Elista, Russia in 1998 and won an individual Gold Medal. He also won individual Gold Medal in 2003 at the 8th African Games.
In 2008 Chess Olympiad, he was awarded a special prize in honour of the gold medal he once won.
IM Balogun Oluwafemi popularly known as pegystuffings the current National Chess Champion. He is also the highest classical rated Nigerian player as at today with a rating of 2308. IM Balogun in 2016 qualified to play in the FIDE World Cup and played against the World Champion Magnus Carlsen, this made him become the very first African to play against a reigning wold champion in a competitive chess game.
